When you purchase a commercial vehicle from McFarland Ford, you don’t have to be content with just what comes from the factory. Ford offers a fantastic upfitting program through FordUpfits.com, where you can find a ton of different upfitting options. Here in Exter, New Hampshire, there are a ton of great delivery services, so we thought we’d help those of you in charge of those companies outfit your Ford Transit with the best storage solutions you can get. We’re going to walk you through a bunch of the options below to highlight what’s available and possible with the Ford Upfits program.
If your company has one or more Transit Cargo Vans, Crew Vans or Passenger vans, then you’ll be pleased with the list of available upfitter options. Before we dive into the best one’s for storage solutions, check out the full list:
Most of these can aid in storage in some way or another, for example if you need to carry around ladders then having roof-mounted racks to store them is going to be a big advantage. Adding various partitions, bulkheads, racks and bins throughout the cargo area of your van(s) will certainly create a ton of storage options. The partitions and bulkheads will help you organize the interior by sectioning it off to best suit your needs, while the racks and bins will obviously provide tangible storage space. The other options are great things to consider as well, but they have less to do with actually creating storage solutions.
The Transit Connect is a smaller option when compared to the full-size Ford Transit, which is the main reason why it’s only available as a Cargo Van. But just because it’s smaller doesn’t mean you can’t outfit it with plenty of its own storage solutions. The list of available upfitter options is the same as above, but backup alarms and cargo flooring are not available. Naturally, that means the same options are going to be the best storage solutions for your Transit Connect: partitions, bulkheads, racks, bins and ladder racks.
The third and final type of Transit commercial vehicle is the cutaway, which is the chassis cab version of the Ford Transit. This is, obviously, the most versatile option, with plenty of different choices for how to upfit the chassis. Here is the full list of upfit options:
With the exception of the gas conversions, all of the other options will, naturally, adjust the storage solutions available to you. One of the best options for storage solutions here is going to be the utility body. They are designed to provide spacious, enclosed cargo areas and often have additional storage options accessible right from the outside, as evidenced in the below photo. Service bodies are just as good an option though, with their lockable cabinets accessible from the exterior as well as an open bed area to store much larger objects.
Of course, the PDV/Cube body options could also be the best solution for your delivery service, as PDV literally stands for parcel delivery vehicle. This body style is just a large open cube designed to store packages for delivery. Obviously, the ambulance and shuttle bus bodies aren’t going to be super helpful for storage solutions.
We hope that all of this information has been helpful for you and your business. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us right here at McFarland Ford in Exeter!
