When you purchase a new Ford vehicle, you get the benefits of several different warranties that come with your vehicle, depending on the vehicle. These warranties include the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Power Stroke Diesel Warranty and many others, including Powertrain, Corrosion, Safety Restraint, Emissions and Hybrid/Electric Unique Components. You should be able to find information about the warranties that your Ford vehicle comes with in your owner’s manual, but today we wanted to instead discuss the Ford Extended Service Plan, of which there are many options to choose from, and which take care of far more than the standard warranties might. So, if you’re wondering what’s covered under your Ford warranty where service and repairs are concerned, we’ve got you covered.
Likely your first question when faced with the opportunity to purchase an extra warranty like this Extended Service Plan from Ford Protect is going to be… why? If you’ve already got warranties like the ones mentioned above, why would I need an additional service plan? The standard warranties that come with your vehicle cover defective factory-supplied parts and materials, they won’t cover services and repairs that you might need from normal wear and tear or similar situations. That’s why you can opt for an Extended Service Plan from Ford Protect, which also offers the following benefits:
There are four different Extended Service Plan options available to Ford owners, starting with the basic PowertrainCARE package. This package will only cover certain components of your engine, transmission and either your rear- or front-wheel drive system. The next step up is BaseCARE, which will cover components of those same four categories, plus steering, brakes, front suspension, A/C and heating and electrical. The third option is ExtraCARE which adds the High Tech category to the rest of them, in addition to any expanded options under each of the other categories.
The final and most popular, as well as most comprehensive category is PremiumCARE. It covers more components under each of the already mentioned categories than any of the other plans, plus it adds rear suspension, emissions, audio and safety categories to the mix. Each category has tons of components under it, such that the PremiumCARE plan offers coverage for more than 1,000 different components. In contrast, PowertrainCARE covers 29, BaseCARE 84 and ExtraCARE 113.
If you own a Ford EV, there are different plans available to you. BaseCARE EV covers 84 components, ExtraCARE EV covers 113 and then you have PremiumCARE EV and PremiumCARE Plus EV. The Plus package here also covers all routine inspections, regularly scheduled maintenance and the replacement of many components, such as wiper blades, coolant hoses, brake pads and more.
While the Extended Service Plans are without a doubt our most popular options, there are plenty of additional plans that you could opt for as well. Let’s just give you a quick overview.
If you have any questions about the different warranties that come with or can be added to the purchase of your Ford vehicle, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us here at McFarland Ford!
